DENMARK BREACHES THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

Sep. 15, 2011 | Topic: ICT and high tech industries

China is planning to invest DKK 600 million in the audio industry and has sent a special invitation to Danish companies and engineers, inviting them to join in a partnership

China is moving fast in audio technology, writes the Jyllands-Posten daily newspaper.

The city of Guangzhou, which has a population close to the size of Denmark’s, plans to invest DKK 600 billion in a national centre for audio technology and they have specifically requested the participation of Danish companies and organisations.

- This is an important recognition of the position of Danish audio technology in the global market. There is no doubt that our sales potential in China will increase substantially in future years if Danish firms manage to exploit these opportunities, says Rasmus Doung-Grunnet, who is a consultant for the Innovation Center Denmark, currently working in Shanghai.

The invitation is the result of an inspiration programme, in which 39 representatives from China’s audio industry took part in Denmark during the autumn. Increasing levels of affluence in the East mean that the Chinese are no longer satisfied with poor music systems and sound quality. They want good microphones, sophisticated software and level meters.

Denmark is globally recognized for its audio technology and has already had several successful exports to Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Bang & Olufsen, Steinway Lyngdorf, Dynaudio and Brüel & Kjær are among the firms who are seeking to be active in the Chinese market.
