BUSINESS PROFILE

Much of the municipality’s business sector is engaged in service provision, including to residents in the municipality. Another important area of business is oriented towards regional, national or international markets and labour catchment areas.

Scion/DTU
One of the biggest business areas is located in the Scion/DTU research centre, which houses research focused companies within biotech, nanotech, environmental technology, medico, IT development and other high-technology fields. Some 170 companies and more than 3500 staff work in the research parks in the municipalities of Rudersdal and Lyngby-Taarbæk.

Other significant concentrations of business activity in the municipality include the Erhvervsbyen commercial centre in Birkerød and the area around Birkerød’s Kongevej, a main road artery.

In particular, the municipality wishes to attract companies with a strong knowledge focus, including companies within research and development, biotech, medico and IT, as well as companies within economics and financing.
